Oct 10 in Wash wasmixaros First District of Columbia colored regiment marched from Camp bell Hospital to the Executive Mansion where the Provident addressed them. He thanked the soldiers for serving the country, noted equality and merit, asked unity after the war, and called for readiness for peacetime. He spoke on slavery’s abolition and the soldiers’ role in upholding the Union.
