The Manheim Community Fair now runs Wednesday October 11 through Friday October 13 after a date change to avoid conflict with the New Holland Fair. Howard Swan, fair chairman, confirms the start will be October 11 with the annual parade. Lancaster Farming will publish a full events schedule closer to the fair.

At the Solanco Fair Steer Show in Community Park a black FFA Baby Beef named Smoky won the over all grand championship for Donald Swinehart of Quarryville. James Thompson won reserve overall grand with an Angus steer, while FFA reserve grand went to Joe Linton. Kay Weaver, 16, captured both showmanship and fitting grand championships as Quarryville's winners list continues.

Preston LeFever Wins Tractor Driving Contest
A seventeen year old farmer won the grand championship in the tractor driving contest at the Quarryville Fair. Preston LeFever of Quarryville R3 claimed first in open competition while George DeLong Peach Bottom R2 took second and Everett Kreider Jr Quarryville R1 finished third. In the FFA division Glenn Kreider Quarryville R1 led, followed by Glenn Sollenberg Quarryville R1 and Kenneth Mellinger Quarryville R2. Amos Rutt served as chairman.
