Maryland cooperative raises base milk price for August sales
MCMP members will receive 8.10 per hundredweight for base milk and 6.69 for milk above base in August plus a 24 cent premium over Federal Order 4. The move aims to curb herd reductions, as 70 farms or seven percent left milking in early 1973, with fluid milk demand rising and forecasts of higher pay prices into early 1974.
