Solanco Fair dairy show repeat champions highlighted the event with 16 year old R Edwin Harmish of Solanco High School winning his second straight grand championship for Monocacy Ayr Dixie Rosemary. John Welk of Strasburg earned the Holstein grand championship with last year’s runner up, debuting his daughter Christine Stonehurst as a new top contender. Chrissy did not compete against her dam at home with a newborn calf. John Welk, 13, is in seventh grade at Lampeter Strasburg.

James Esbenshade, son of Mr and Mrs Milton Esbenshade of Quarryville R2, won all three divisions of Solanco Fair tractor driving with an 80 point score in a tough field including 10 Future Farmers of America members and six adults. His closest rival was Robert Wolgemuth of Peach Bottom who scored 130 points.
