In Lancaster County the southern half reports tall corn on many farms including the Daniel Tumble property at Chestnut Level. The Hybrid corn, planted May 10 at 16000 per acre, benefited from preplant and in-row nitrogen and a soil spray. Rains improved prospects as of Sept 10, with hopes for silage this winter.

Keystone Future Farmer Officers Lead Training in State College
Two Future Farmers return to Lancaster County from a three day Leadership Training Conference at Pennsylvania State University. Solanco Fair Parade Lines Up Nine Bands
Nine bands will march in the Solanco Fair Parade next Friday evening in Quarryville to launch the county fair season. The three day exhibit runs Wednesday through Friday with a total of 300 dollars in prize money for marching units and floats. Parade starts at 30 pm September 21 signaling the fair’s opening, moved to the last night of festivities.
