Shuman Urges UFW to Prove Nonviolence Commitment
American Farm Bureau President Charles B Shuman called Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee to prove commitment to nonviolence and prevent violence in California grape areas. He cited arson and vandalism in Delano and Ducor, with a $200000 packing shed fire at Bruno Disputo and a $104060 Elmco Vineyards blaze as deliberate acts. Police view pattern as more than coincidence, amid tensions of the grape boycott.
