Osborne Named State Milk Marketer and Ref referendum plan
Edison W. Osborne a Peach Bottom dairy farmer was named milk marketing specialist for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. A February milk referendum could authorize a five cent check off per 100 pounds to fund promotion with funds spent under a Market Development Committee plan. Governor Shapp signed legislation amending the Agricultural Commodities Act to allow simple majority votes and cooperative block voting for check offs.
