Elverson Farm Wins Reddy Kilowatt Award
Elverson farmer Louis G Stoltzfus and his Spring Hollow Dairy Farm were honored Thursday as a Reddy Kilowatt all electric farm by Pennsylvania Power and Light Company. The Stoltzfus family received a certificate at a noontime ceremony at the El Mar Motel Morgantown with Norman F Reber as speaker and Ivan Hess presenting. The farm is the first in Chester County to win the award and only the 25th recipient in PPL territory. The fully electrified operation features electric barn cleaner dairy water heater milking machine hay dryer bulk tank milk cooler conveyors elevators and many electric tools.

Flying Farmers to Attend New York Meet in November
Keystone State Flying Farmers join New York group for a two day meeting November 10 and 11 at Duanesburg near Albany. Seventy six Pennsylvanians visited Williamsport for the Lycoming Coat luncheon with 25 aircraft. Vernon Pond from Ohio and Queen liaisons from Ohio and New York attended as guests. A business session was held at Williamsport Airport.

Friends to Help Clean Up Lentz Home Fire Ruins
Fire destroyed the Robert Lentz family home four miles southeast of Quarryville on Saturday afternoon damaging clothing and personal possessions. An appeal for clothing and furniture was issued by Rev. Dr. George H. Shea. Neighbors found housing for the family in Quarryville area as the fire companies from Quarryville and Bart responded.

Lorah Wins Lancaster County Land Use Contest
Richard Lorah of Cocalico won the county land use and management contest at Andrew Hackman farm on Saturday. Five county schools competed. other winners were Robert Fahnestork Manheim Central Richard Buckwalter Cocalico and John Yost Pequea Valley. The district presented a plaque to Mr. Sarah. Judging focused on soil slope depth drainage texture and organic matter with recommendations for improving soil quality.

Heavy Rain Fills Lancaster County Reservoirs After Dry Spell
Rain in a three day period through Wednesday dropped 2.46 inches in Lancaster County. Safe Harbor 2.07 inches Holtwood 2.35 inches.
