Charles B. Shuman president of the American Farm Bureau Federation spoke at the Lancaster County Farmers Association banquet arguing that government programs cause farmers’ troubles. He asserted three fourths of farmers want to scrap farm programs and criticized Freeman and a “cheap food policy” aimed at appeasing consumers.
