Roller coaster prices seen by Dieter Krieg
R L Strock, manager of Maryland Cooperative Milk Producers Inc, told 106 York County MCMP members that dairy prices will be more volatile under current policies than under the old system. He said non fat powder stocks remain excessive, while butter and cheese stocks have declined as demand grows and supplies tighten. He noted the September 75 MCMP base price is $1.25 higher per hundredweight than a year ago and warned of potential up to 20 cent gains in the Minnesota Wisconsin price by November, with a slow or rapid retreat depending on demand. Secretary Earl Butz may need to authorize another dairy support level change.

Millersville FFA youth to attend national convention
Greg Landis of Lancaster County will be honored at the national FFA Convention in Kansas City by receiving the American Farming Degree the highest FFA honor for a youth completing his work in the organization. He is a Penn Manor High School graduate of 1973 who now farms about 120 acres with his father outside Millersville.
