County ACP Funds Reduced For 1967 Lancaster County
Lancaster County ACP funds for 1967 were cut by 2000 from 112000. Miss Dorothy Y Neel said the state allocation of 4620000 was reduced by 35000 from last year. Cost share practices and program details to be announced after a October 19 meeting. A regional committee includes extension, FmHA, soil conservation, state forester, SWCD, and ASCS.

Farm Price Index at Best Level Since 1953
Seasonal gains in milk and egg prices lifted the September index of prices received to the highest since 1953. Meat animal prices were mostly steady to up, except hog prices which fell. fruits and vegetables declined from the prior month. Steers and heifers rose 30 cents to 24.40, cows for slaughter remained steady.

A registered Holstein in John M Nissley’s herd set the top lactation for August in the Red Rose Dairy Improvement Association. The cow named Misty produced 22 305 pounds of milk with 895 pounds of butterfat and a 4.0 percent test. A second high lactation was recorded by a Holstein in the Dale herd.
