John Nolt, a 1010 pound Angus steer, won grand champion at the New Holland Baby Beef Club roundup. Larry Weaver of New Holland bought the calf for 55.50 per hundredweight and sold it to Whitford Sales Company for 55 cents per pound. Roy Musser showed the runner up steer and the FFA steer from Joseph Venezia fetched 305 cents per pound. Hereford champion was exhibited by Harold Leaman with Anna Pearl Lapp as runner up, while Richard Leaman led showmanship.

Willow Street breeder wins Manheim Dairy Champion at show
Four year old Holstein Peifer from Willow Street topped the Manheim Farm Show dairy cattle. Reserve champ went to Robert Kauffen of Manheim R1 with a senior calf. Elvin Shelly Manheim R1 displayed the 4-H Holstein champion. Judy Flory Lititz R2, 11, swept 4-H and open Ayrshire awards with her two year old cow, and claimed the 4-H fitting contest title with the same animal. Linda Eshleman Elizabeth Town R1 showed the reserve Ayrshire. Judge Robert Heilman presided during Cumberland County competition proceedings.

4-H Dairy Team Earns Fourth at National Show
Pennsylvania's 4-H Dairy Judging Team placed fourth in the National Dairy Cattle Show at Waterloo Iowa earning a plaque. The team scored 1 984 points, narrowly three points shy of third. Maryland won with 2087, Oklahoma 1993, Florida 1988, Garden Spot 1983. The group competed against 33 state teams, finishing second in Jersey judging, fifth in Holsteins, and tenth in Ayrshire Brown Swiss.

Four Lancaster County 4-H club members earned expense paid trips to the 40th national 4-H Congress in Chicago November 26 to 30. Joyce Denlinger Kenneth Porter Donald Trimble and Darvin Boyd are among 22 Pennsylvania winners. Denlinger 13 home address 602 Enfield Drive Lancaster completed projects in outdoor cooking gardening and flowers. She is a member of the Conestoga Valley Sewing Club and has been a junior leader for four years. She won first place in the county dress review and the bankers award.

Poultry Princess Londa Boyd Crowned at Harrisburg
