Hosler Shows Champion At Manheim Beef Show
Wilbur Hosler, 20, of Manheim, claimed the grand champion with a 980 pound Hitt Farms Angus steer among 36 entries at the Manheim Beef Show. He also won the showmanship judging, while Terry Petticotte earned reserve champion with another Hilt Farms Angus.

Blocky Angus Wins At New Holland Beef Show
Blocky Angus, a 1090 pound steer shown by 18 year old Richard Seaman, won the Grand Championship at the New Holland Baby Beef Club roundup. Harold Seaman, 15, assisted, and the owner earned nearly $600 from the sale. Top steer sold to New Holland Sales Stables for 55 cents a pound.

Tobacco market topic at County Young Farmers meeting
The Lampete Chapter hosts the County Young Farmers Association meeting next Thursday night at Lampetei Strasburg High School at 8 pm. A panel of tobacco company officials will discuss tobacco quality cultural practices including MH-30 use as it relates to prices and new seedleaf varieties. George Myers advisor says the panel will be composed of tobacco industry representatives.

Poultry Center Barbecues Return in October
The Lancaster County Poultry Association announces Saturday Chicken Barbecues resume October 13 at the Poultry Center on the 230 Bypass. Carryout chicken halves will be sold 2 to 5 pm on the grounds at the bypass and Roseville Road to raise funds to pay off the building mortgage.
