Poultry Advisory Council Proposes 10 Point Market Plan

Harrisburg Pennsylvania 10 point program to strengthen the poultry market was proposed by the State Poultry Marketing Advisory Council appointed by State Agriculture Secretary Leland H Bull. The plan includes new products education turkey market cost studies media relations news service freight rates and production maintenance with Robert B Graybill of Rohrerstown named chairman.

Farm Income In Pa Predicted Best Since 1960

Pennsylvania farm income from sale of products shows improvement over recent years. Official estimates for the first nine months of 1965 total 606,905,000, up 41 percent or more than 24 million from 1964. Projections expect the year to exceed 600 million in cash sales for the first time since 1960 despite drought.

Young Farmer Class Discusses Hybrid Corn and Soil

The Manheim Young Farmers Club met last Monday in the Agriculture Room at Manheim Central High School. Panelists from Eastland Coin Co Ammon Shelly Pioneer Agway Inc and Edgar Funk Co spoke on hybrid corn soil and fertilization. The next meeting is set for December 13 at the high school with a topic on Credit and Income Tax Filing.

Overflow From Fair Fund For Agr Research

Harrisburg Secretary Leland H Bull said research proposals from agricultural and allied industry groups will be reviewed by the advisory Research Fund Committee on December 9. The funds came from a State Legislature act signed by Governor Scranton, and will be released from the fair fund.

Eggs To Oven Ready Birds Route At Zimmerman Farm

Zimmerman Turkey Farm raises 25000 Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys yearly for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Leroy Zimmerman his father Ed and nephew Kenneth Martin hatch poults four times a year in February April June and July. The eggs come from breeder flocks and are hatched off site then sex separated at the hatchery before arrival at three turkey houses and pole barns.
