Glenn Weber Named 1966 Region II Star Farmer

Glenn S Weber of the Grassland FFA chapter is named Region II Star Farmer for 1966, the third consecutive year a Lancaster County FFA member earns the honor. A senior at Garden Spot High School, he has served as FFA president in 1965 and progressed from Star Green Hand to top regional winner, with state competition at the FFA State Convention in January.

Producers Co Op Sets Date For Annual Meeting

Producers Cooperative Exchange in Coatesville announces its annual meeting for Tuesday December 7 at 7 30 pm at the Plan and Fancy Farm. Yo-Ag Teachers Elect Officers at Penn Manor High

At the regular meeting of the Lancaster County Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association at Penn Manor High School, officers for the coming year were elected. Eugene Daugherty of Garden Spot High School was named president, Lewis Ayers of Ephrata High School secretary, Mark Campbell of Manheim Central High School treasurer, Clair Zerby of Warwick High School adviser to the County FFA Chapter for a three year term, and Gerald Kiger of Lamber-Strasburg High School was chosen for another post.

Red Rose DHIA Sets Tester-Owned Equipment Policy

The Red Rose Dairy Herd Improvement Association board clarified rules on equipment ownership at a special meeting in Lancaster. It barred testers from owning income producing DHIA meters while allowing use of personally owned meters with no charging. The group will expand to 18 meters, distributed across three county locations.

Jir Esbenshade, recent Solanco High School vocational agriculture graduate, is Lancaster County’s first Farm Mechanics Awards Program winner. He built a $15,000 equipment inventory by repairing old machinery, demonstrating standout mechanical skill.
