Floyd Moore Jr 14 of 780 Eden Road Lancaster topped the Lancaster County 4 H Capon Club Roundup at the Kiwanis Club meeting scoring 20 of 20. He entered two White Vanturess Arbor Acre cross broilers weighing 8 12 and 7 7 pounds earning a five dollar Kiwanis award. Charles Warfel 12 Conestoga second with 39 75 points earned three dollars, James Groff 11 Lancaster third with 19 59 points earned two dollars, and Glenn Porter 12 Lititz fourth with 19 25 points earned one dollar. Warfel also had a high division score of 99 7 points and received five dollars. Additional prizes included silver dollars for other entrants and tape measures for girls. Three year pins were awarded to Mary Jane Herr Ross Ferguson and James C Brubaker. Victor Plastow noted continued coverage on page five.

Guernsey Men Win Trophies For Achievements In Breed
Outstanding Guernsey achievements over the past year earned county awards for Raymond Witmer and John Breneman at a Quarryville banquet attended by 329 members and families. Witmer led with 45 cows averaging 10697 pounds milk and 5344 pounds butterfat, receiving a model Guernsey. Breneman, manager of Rhoads Acres, got a silver cream pitcher. Rhoads Acres led raw milk samples at the 195 Pennsylvania State Farm Show, a fourth straight win for Southern Lancaster County Farm. Directors elected for three years: Melvin Stoltzfus, RI Ranks, Frank Hershey, Peach Bottom, and Robert McSnarran, Peach Bottom. A note on travel by Earl Werner appeared.

Two Farm Fires Cause 125000 Loss in Lancaster County
Two farm fires in Lancaster County this week caused about 125000 dollars in damage. A 50 by 75 foot stone and timber bank barn on the Elam Stoltzfus farm near Narvon was destroyed for about 50009 dollars. The next day a fire at the Joseph Vogelmuth farm caused about 75000 dollars in damage.
