Ivan Yost Elected YFA Vice President
Ivar Yost of Narvon Region 2 was chosen Region 2 Vice President of the Pennsylvania Young Farmers Association at its 8th Annual Convention in York at the Yorktown Motel. Dairy farmer Yost won the Lancaster County Tractor Driving contest in July and attended with Donald Robinson from Garden Spot High School and local leaders Robert Martin and Vernon Beiler.

Producers Exchange Hears Annual Meeting Report at Mt Joy
The Producers Exchange held its annual meeting at Hostetter's in Mt Joy on Tuesday Evening. Eye prices for all grades averaged 28 cents per dozen said K M Souders. The cooperative reported a tougher year with higher costs and reduced customer demand but noted export sales to Ethiopia. Directors were elected: H Raymond Stoner Clyde Sumpman Robert Wallis.

Dr. Russell E Larson of Penn State Agriculture reports two explosive forces drive world food demand the population surge and rising per capita income. He notes grains cover over 70 percent of crop land and provide most of direct food energy with meat milk and eggs from the remainder. He cites 1600 pounds of grain per person yearly for a high protein US diet versus 400 pounds in less developed countries.

Credit Man Says We Could Not Get Along Without Our Farmers
William H. Johnson of Farm Credit Banks of Baltimore told 250 at the 50th anniversary of the Federal Land Bank Association and Production Credit Association that farmers are the nation's biggest producers and consumers. He cited a 46 percent rise in production per farming worker in 23 years and warned of low net farm income for the next 15 years while forecasting increased demand for farm production by 1983.
