Delegates at the Pennsylvania Farmers Association annual meeting in York approved resolutions opposing compulsory school district reorganization and urged assigning relief recipients to public works. The resolution warned the law could lead to a federal takeover of all districts.

Nine local chapter Sweethearts evaluated dating behavior from first date to meeting the family as FFA officers from 20 chapters conducted parliamentary practice and ceremonies.
A Lancaster County teen won the grand championship at the Eastern National Livestock Exposition in Timonium Maryland. Wesley Mast 17 earned 820 dollars in prize money for his 980 pound Hereford steer which sold for 225 a pound. His sister Rhoda Mast showed an Angus that took Reserve Champion and sold for 50 cents a pound. the pair together expect to gross over 3000 dollars from the two steers. The champion was bought by Schlun erberg and Kurdie Co Inc of Baltimore. Wesley plans to reinvest in the family farm with his father and brother.
Lancaster County entries nearly swept the junior steer events at the Eastern National Livestock Exposition. Garden Spot's Monday trio won Hereford and Angus championships with a reserve Shorthorn, while a 980 pound Hereford led the breed judging. Five conservation plans covering 5455 acres were approved by Lancaster County Soil Conservation District directors on Monday night. Four plans were for the Pennsylvania State Games Commission, bringing total approvals for the year to 49 and district total to 2004. The fifth plan, with Robert D. Herr of Garden Spot High School, covers 13 acres at Narvon R2 in East Earl Township. Two watershed meetings were scheduled, Kirkwood for November 28 at Bart Elementary and December 12 for New Holland Young Farmers Association at Garden Spot High School. The district annual meeting and banquet will be held in March in the Quarryville area.
About 300 farmers and their wives attended the third Business-Farm Day in Lancaster sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Morning tours showcased farm to consumer goods production while the afternoon panel at Armstrong Cork Company highlighted the link between capital production and distribution in the agrindustrial economy.
