Scanogram helps Delaware hog producers pick meatier hogs
The Scanogram device, funded by the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension and partners, measures back fat and loin eye to predict meat yield. Boars tested at 180 to 240 pounds show close carcass correlations, aiding selection for faster growing, lower fat hogs while cost is kept to about $1 per head.
