Women Added To State Plow Contest

Pennsylvania nears state championship as 42 county winners compete in Towanda August 27 at the State Plowing Contest. The event is part of 1969 Agricultural Progress Days at Fox Chase Farms near Towanda Airport with dairy shows forage and forestry field days and a women's program. Three divisions include small plow and level land.

Potato Growers Favor Self-Assessment Plan in Hearing

Pennsylvania potato growers testified at a public hearing that they support a selfassessment of one cent per hundredweight for potato research and promotion. The plan applies to potatoes for human consumption grown on ten or more acres. State Agriculture Secretary Leland H Bull will likely mail ballots on June 6 with a return deadline of noon June 20.
