Plants Serve As Good Cover For Erosion Control
Lancaster Farming reports Lathco flatpea as a new conservation cover crop developed by Penn State Cornell and USDA to stabilize disturbed soils and reduce runoff. It tolerates drought, works on sands and gravels, but needs lime if pH is low and should be inoculated. Seeding rates are 30 to 60 pounds per acre with early spring planting.
