National Sheep Referendum Set for Federal Promotion Vote
A nationwide mail ballot referendum will be held June 7 to 11 on continuing a promotional program for lamb and wool. Since 1955 sheep producers have approved such campaigns, with Lancaster County ranking high in state production. The vote requires two thirds approval by producers representing two thirds of the sheep. Contributions fund promotions via incentive payments and 1.5 cents per pound of wool and 75 cents per 100 pounds of unshorn lamb.

Solanco FFA Chapter took first place at the Lancaster County Land Use and Management contest held on Howard J Muller’s farm in Refton. Top individual was Solanco’s Dave Aument, with six Lancaster teams and three top individual placers overall. The winning team received a rotating trophy from the Octorara Watershed Association, with plaques and judging by Oival Bass.
