Governor Shapp urges relief for farmer in Middle Creek Refuge
Governor Milton Shapp asked the State Game Commission to let Lester G Risser keep most of his 104 acre farm inside the Middle Creek Waterfowl Refuge. Risser has fought the commission for five years, reaching the US Supreme Court, which denied a hearing. Shapp argues for a negotiated agreement to avoid rental disruption and delays.
