Light Showers Help Crops Across Lancaster County
Light showers Wednesday and forecasts of continued moisture ease a drought for Lancaster County farmers who had lagged two weeks. Spring bursts color across the county with blossoms, tulips, and peach trees in full bloom as temperatures swing toward 80. Ag agent Max M Smith notes the rain aided field work and tomato planting while advising ryegrass cover crops be plowed under early to help root structure. A country drive shows summer near already, with calls for more rain to reduce dust.
