Farmers Union protests cuts in the agriculture budget
The Farmers Union urged House and Senate subcommittees to restore and raise funds to boost farm income amid budget cuts. NFU leaders Reuben Johnson and Angus McDonald warned price supports are being eroded and cited funding gaps for REA cooperatives and regulatory agencies. They pressed for protection of farm workers, extended conservation programs, and new research and promotion efforts for potato growers.
