Governor Bull Warns No Violence in Milk Strike Amid Tension
Pennsylvania agriculture secretary Leland Bull told dairymen at the Atlantic Breeders Cooperative meeting that Governor Shafer will not tolerate violence during the milk strike. He noted dumping in the west and said state police are alerted to assist if trouble occurs. Bull cited that farm output hit 900 million dollars last year, up 116 million from four years earlier, but rising costs may erode gains. He warned of the challenge of supplying milk for a growing population and cited a per capita decline in cows and consumption since 1960.
