Optional Method For Tax Report Given Farmers

A revised optional method for reporting self employment earnings by farm operators for years ending after December 31 1959 was announced by W S Gleaton and H J Bernilley. The plan allows accrual bookkeepers and partner farmers to use either actual net income or specified caps based on farm gross income. Farmers with gross income as low as $600 can gain Social Security credit if net earnings reach at least $400. The 1956 amendments also extend coverage to tenants receiving cash or crop shares if the landlord materially participates. Information requests go to the Internal Revenue Office at Lancaster Post Office 2nd floor.
