Barley Harvest Under Way Despite Wet Fields
Merle Groff of Lancaster R4 started an 11 ft self propelled combine last week, bringing in nearly 100 bushels per acre from 200 acres of custom work. Moisture around 13 percent and good yields contrasted with fields still too wet from recent rains, delaying full harvesting until weather clears. The Groff family, on a 75 acre farm, feeds out about 175 steers and some swine annually.
