Butz Hopes Surplus Wheat To Go Abroad
Secretary of Agriculture Earl Butz predicted a record wheat harvest and indicated much of the U S surplus would likely be sold to Russia before fall. He spoke to 12 northeastern state agriculture officials in Camp Hill and defended past grain sales as aiding imports and prices.

Lightning Fire Obliterates Kutztown Area Barn
A spectacular barn fire near Kutztown Wednesday afternoon completely destroyed a barn owned by Shupr and Nolfe. Over 60 firemen from Kutztown Trexlertown and Topton fought the blaze but could not save the structure. all horses were saved and no injuries reported.

Judy Stoltzfus 4-H Leader Congress Attendee Shines
Judy Stoltzfus, a 17 year old Lancaster County 4-H member, recently attended the 4 H Leadership Congress at Penn State. She has served seven years in 4 H and two prior conferences, and was invited to attend leadership school this summer. Judy designed club and state posters, learned video taping, and participates in the Mt Joy photography club, where she helps plan a slide presentation.
