Harrisburg Meeting On Federal Egg Act Set

Pennsylvania agriculture chief James A McHale schedules a March 11 meeting at 11 am in Room 309 Agriculture Building Harrisburg. U S Department of Agriculture reps will explain the Federal Egg Products Inspection Act as it applies to egg producers packers and processors with June 30 1972 activation for egg products and June 39 1972 for shell eggs.

Marketing Order Issued for Red Tart Cherries

The USDA issued a marketing order for red tart cherries grown in Michigan New York Wisconsin Pennsylvania Ohio Virginia West Virginia and Maryland. The order allows limiting yearly marketing and creates a reserve pool to cover short crops. A 12 member board of growers and processors will administer the order and set limits.

Crops and Soils Day Slated

The Lancaster County Extension Service sponsors Crops and Soils Day on February 23 from 8 30 a m to 1 00 p m at Farm and Home Axneld G Lueck, Lancaster County agent said. Penn State agronomists will cover field corn hay silage weed control fertility no fall corn and soil water conservation with displays from agri business firms and their reps for farmers.

Feeder Cattle Series Set at Farm and Home Center Lancaster

Two educational meetings on feeder cattle are scheduled at the Farm and Home Center in Lancaster. On February 16 at 730 pm Penn State Extension economist Lews Moore discusses The Cattle Feeding Outlook and Cattle Futures followed by Lester Burdette on Efficient Cattle Feeding.
