County agriculturists and the assistant county agent expect little change in farm conditions for 1963. They foresee a steady outlook with no major shifts from the past year and anticipate a similar agricultural picture across the county.
Paul Trimble of Quarryville won the Lancaster County 4 H corn champion title at the Farm Show beating 18 entries with his brother Donald r placing third. Paul, 18, previously won the state corn championship in January after finishing second to Donald in county competition.
Paul Ankrutv, a dairy farmer, explains that most income comes from milk with small crops of wheat corn and straw. He notes likely higher costs and slightly lower prices could reduce net income and that drought effects vary by region.

Lancaster County Farm Bureau patrons bought over 4 million dollars in goods last year, the first time this figure is reached in 28 years. Feed led gains with purchases rising from 1,577,471 to 1,725,349 dollars, while petroleum products tires and twine declined.
Richard K Buckwalter of Lititz R3 won the county 4-H Tobacco club roundup grand championships in both wrapper and filler classes. In his third year he grew Swart-Hirshman tobacco on 38 inch rows, spaced plants 28 inches apart, plowed down 15 tons of manure on corn stalks, added 300 pounds of 4-12-16 fertilizer, topped the crop at 14 leaves and sprayed MH 30 to stop suckers. The non irrigated crop started slow but late rains saved it. He also won the grand filler championship at the 1961 Pennsylvania State Farm Show.
Near normal temperatures are expected for the next five days with little day to day change. It will be slightly warmer over the weekend as normal daytime highs run around 40 and nights near 23. Precipitation may total 0.1 to 0.6 inch as light snow or snow flurries, mostly in mountain areas.
