Solanco Twins Follow Father's Footsteps As Keystone Farmers

Lloyd and Leroy Welk, 17 year old Solanco seniors, are twins following their father Ira Welk into FFA success. The Welk brothers, chapter reporter and secretary, anticipate earning Keystone Degrees at the Harrisburg Farm Show mid winter convention, joining their father who earned Keystone Degree in 1949 and American Farmer in 1952. The teens discuss future dairy and beef expansion, land costs, and land tax proposals while recalling past farming changes and equipment costs. Leroy and Lloyd anticipate larger operations but note labor and land barriers ahead.
