Pequea FFA Orange Sale Nets $1950 in Lan caster County
Pequea Valley FFA and nearby high schools held the first Lan caster County orange sale on November 4. Pequea Valley members sold over 1950 dollars worth of fruit led by Charles Neff with 69 crates, Carl Caskey 65 crates, and Mike Morris 50 crates.

USDA Approves Pennsylvania Meat Inspection Program
The USDA approved Pennsylvania new meat inspection program. Agriculture Secretary Leland Bull said federal officials notified by telegram that the state complies with federal Wholesome Meat Act standards. He explained the designation of meat inspection responsibility at the state level. If a state fails, inspection shifts to the USDA.

Penn State Researches Greenhouse Mechanization Concepts
Penn State launches a study led by agricultural engineer Dr Sveiker Persson to evaluate materials handling in greenhouse production and develop seedling transplanting implements. The project will test prototypes in six Pennsylvania operations and may explore computer modeling for cost benefits.

Noah W Kreider Named Master Farmer for 1970
Noah W Kreider of Manheim RD 3 is named a 1970 Master Farmer joining six other Pennsylvania growers. The award will be presented January 12 at a Harrisburg luncheon. Kreider operates a large diversified farming complex with cattle, poultry, hogs and 860 acres including 360 acres of potatoes. His two sons helped expand the business from a small start after leaving silk mills in 1928.
