Dairy herds honored at DHIA banquet in Lancaster County
Three hundred ninety three Lancaster County herds surpassed 425 pounds of butterfat for the year as their herdsmen were recognized at the DHIA banquet. J Z Nolts Holsteins led with 709 pounds of butterfat and 19 216 pounds of milk. Leola Ri’s herd topped 600 pounds, with four others over 650 pounds. Rufus G Martins herd had 687 pounds, 18 953 pounds milk, Paul B Zimmermans 678 pounds and 16 275 pounds milk, Curtis E Akers 666 pounds and 16 844 pounds milk. Six plaques were awarded including Elsie Linde for best Guernsey herd.
