14 County FFA Members Win State Farmer Degrees
Harrisburg December 2 14 Lancaster County vocational agriculture students who are Future Farmers of America members will receive the Keystone Farmer degree at the 1962 State Farm Show. These 14 leaders are among the top two percent of the state FFA membership and were certified by James C Fink.

Strasburg youth elected president of county FFA chapter
Paul Welk 17 year old son of H Leroy and Mrs Welk was chosen president of the Easter County Future Farmers of America chapter at Peg Valley High School Monday night. He is a senior in the vocational agriculture program at Lampeter Strasburg High School and has held office previously while active in 4 H and dairy judging. Other officers include David Graybill as second vice president and Larry Weaver as first vice president.

CVA Reelects John Kitch To Lead Association
John Kitch was reelected president of the Conestoga Valley Association at its annual reorganizational meeting. Henry Hackman was reelected vice president, S Gerald Darlington named second vice president, Benjamin Landis reelected recording secretary, and Irene Luphold returned as corresponding secretary.

Pace Setter Jr owned and bred by Norman, Arthur and Edwin Hess of Green Meadows Farm captured Grand Champion Ram at the International Livestock Exposition in Chicago. The Hesses also earned top honors at the Pennsylvania Show in Harrisburg with multiple firsts and a premier breeder's banner. The county's Hampshire flocks competed against entrants from many states in the Eastern regional show.

PSU Steer Reserve Champion at International Livestock Show
P S U Rodney II a summer yearling Shorthorn steer won the reserve grand championship at the International Livestock Exposition in Chicago. Penn State had four of nine steers in final and semi finals, winning reserve Hereford and both Shorthorn champion titles. The grand championship went to an Aberdeen Angus senior shown by Iowa State University.

4 H District Steer Show Won By Darlene Ebersole
Darlene Ebersole a 14 year old Co calico High School sophomore led county showmen to win most rosettes in six Pennsylvania counties breed judging. Her 995 pound steer topped the Hereford division on her fourth try with prior steers placing at Ephrata Fair. Emma Mae Mast repeated reserve in Angus with an 1085 pound steer. Judges included Henry Gruber and Donald Kniffer.

Rankin Wiley of Quarryville and Wakefield was elected to the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Retail Farm and Industrial Equipment Association at its 48th annual meeting. The two day convention at Pocono Manor Inn on November 29 and 30 named Wiley of C. E. Wiley and Son as director.

Space for the 1962 Pennsylvania Farm Show is completely sold, with all commercial exhibit area reserved. Dr William L Henning state secretary of agriculture and Farm Show Commission chairman says scores were turned away for display space due to the four acre main exhibition hall full. Approximately half of the main Farm Show building remains for future pages.

New Light Laws For Farmers Announced In Pennsylvania
State Secretary of Revenue Charles M Daugherty announced new lighting regulations for slow moving vehicles and farm machinery on Pennsylvania highways after dark. Regulations follow a 1961 state law authorizing adoption of lighting standards for all vehicles tractors and related equipment.
