Conservationist Urges Proper Tree Border Removal
Karl Hellerick of the Lebanon County Soil Conservation Service urges landowners to cut back woodland along crop fields to boost yields. Remove all trees four inches diameter or more within a 30 foot border. Wood can be used for timber and fireplace fuel, with neighbors bringing loads to outlets or stores. The practice may aid energy supply, wildlife habitat, and income, described as a real winner by judges Grant Heilman and Dr. Robert Lowing with prizes donated by local groups.
