Live broiler prices fell about a cent per pound and sales volume dropped nearly 30 percent from the prior week at Lancaster Poultry Center. August 29 auction ranged 15.2 to 16.7 with an average 15.53. 52,300 birds sold from 55,800 offered across 11 lots.
Delmarva reports live broiler prices fell about a half cent in the 24 hour period ending Friday morning. Demand was light for modest auction offerings as eastern shore plants plan limited operations this weekend. Estimated weekend slaughter stood at 778,400 head versus 898,100 last weekend, with farm prices 14.5 to 15.4 for 972,300 head sold, including 413,200 head from Thursday's Selbyville, Delaware auction.
