Time to control weeds in alfalfa and lime for winter grains
Early August seedings of alfalfa without a nurse crop require weed control attention. If Eptam was not used, 2 4 DB should be applied when weeds are 1 to 2 inches high. Lime soils to pH 6.4 to 7.0 for better yields in winter grains and prepare for next spring clover or alfalfa. Use certified seed to avoid weeds and disease. Clean premises and sanitation reduce fly and mosquito breeding, with dairymen urged to maintain top sanitary conditions.
