David Witmer, 16, of Lanaster's 321 Valley Road, captured grand championship at the Garden Spot Baby Beef show at Lancaster Union Stock Yards. His 425 pound Angus dad by William McCoy sold for 45 per hundred weight. Second went to Karl Hess with a 935 pound Angus from Lancaster RG. Judges included John Totura and Al Shafter.

Pig Roundup At County Market Hog Show Next Week
About 50 4 H club members will exhibit hog projects at the county Market Hog show and sale next week. Hogs will be weighed Tuesday afternoon and judged Wednesday August 22 starting at 8 am by breed in three weight classes. Light hogs under 190 pounds, medium 195 to 225 pounds.
Grassland Field Days Draws Crowds of Farmers
The first National Grassland Field Days and Conference drew about 10 000 spectators on opening day at Hershey Estates with attendance rising to 15 000 on Thursday. Farmers from 38 states and many foreign countries registered as plowing contests and gubernatorial speeches promised a busy final day. Gov Lawrence praised farmers and the link between agriculture and industry. Ohio's Robert L Mikesell won hay grand champion of North America, with two Ohio firms taking reserve titles.
