Southern Corn Blight Spreads Rapidly in Lancaster County
Southern corn blight has spread across Lancaster County and SE Pennsylvania over the past week. Officials warn the blight is now a definite threat to non resistant varieties and could damage blends. Extension officials scheduled a Friday meeting at the Russellville Grange Hall to discuss rapid developments with Penn State pathologists and Lancaster County agents led by Max Smith.

Annual Co Swine Producers Field Day Held Thursday
About 200 swine producers and allied industrymen attended the Lancaster County Swine Producers Field Day at the Farm and Home Center. Speakers films and exhibits showcased the latest swine equipment and a pork barbecue was served. Swine testing station location was announced for Lancaster County at the Allen and Wilmer Groff farm Manheim RD4 with details to follow.

Lancaster County 4H Dairy judging and junior livestock judging teams won first at the state competition at Penn State University.
