Poultrymen Meet in D C Over Dietary Goals Booklet
On August 9 five members of the Lancaster County Poultry Association traveled to Washington to discuss the government booklet Dieta ry Goals for the United States with Paul Cooksey a legislative aide to Senator Richard Schweiker. The booklet was prepared by the Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs an eight member panel including Schweiker Humprey Dole Kennedy Percy Leahy Zorinsky and others.

Milk surplus eases for Inter-State members
Dr James E Honan Inter-State general manager told about 350 members and families at a Solanco Fairgrounds chicken barbecue that only a minimal amount of Inter-State milk is shipped to out-of-state markets. He noted June excess was only ten percent and the critical period has passed though effects linger.

Twins take top two in hog roundup
Lancaster County 4H pig roundup at Stockyards on August 9 drew 148 pigs shown by 32 members. Sharon Heisey of Elizabethtown earned grand champion with a 220 pound Blueback. reserve champion weighed 230 pounds and was shown by her twin Steven. The champion sold to Hatfield Packing Co. for $3 per pound.
