4 H Leaders Plan Barbecue for Fundraising
The County 4 H leaders club plans a chicken barbecue fundraiser to raise about 1700 dollars for trips and activities. Each club in the county should send a representative to a planning meeting August 14 at 8 00 pm in the basement of the Production Credit building Roseville Road. The barbecue is set for September 16 at Lampeter Community Park with tickets available from club members or the county agent's office in Lancaster.

A grade Holstein cow in the Smucker herd at Elverson led DHIA records with 18 669 pounds of milk and 702 pounds of fat finishing her 305 day lactation and posting a 38 percent test. J Mowery Frey's Lancaster County herd ranked high for butterfat with 34 registered Holsteins averaging 1 668 pounds of milk and 60 pounds fat per cow. Second in milk was Paul Zimmers Ephrata herd with 1 535 pounds and 59 pounds fat. both herds posted 38–39 percent tests.
