Dr. Lowell L. Wilson Honored With National Animal Science Award
Dr. Lowell L. Wilson of Pennsylvania State University received the American Society of Animal Science animal management award and a $1,000 prize at the society’s annual meeting. A Purdue Extension beef cattle specialist from 1964 to 1966, he helped expand Indiana cattle herds tested for performance, helped found the Indiana Cattleman’s Association, and initiated early beef cattle data processing. He joined Penn State as associate professor in 1966, became professor in 1971, and contributed key findings on crossbreeding, sire ranking, carcass prediction, zeranol growth promotion, and cattle performance.
