Farm Bureau Robbed in Lancaster Burglary

Burglars hit the Farm Bureau Building on Duillerville Road Lancaster Friday night causing about 1000 dollars in damage and stealing 217 dollars in cash. Five doors were broken and several windows smashed.

Convention Program for 79th AGCC Meeting in Philadelphia

The American Guernsey Cattle Club and Pennsylvania Guernsey Breeders Association announce a four day 1956 convention in Philadelphia and nearby from May 7 to May 10. Benson Reacts To Farm Bill Veto And Soil Bank Hope

Washington U S D A Secretary Ezra Taft Benson commented on the Presidential veto of the farm bill. He said administrative steps will improve farm prices and income and that Soil Bank unavailable requires alternate measures. He urged prompt enactment of Soil Bank by Congress for farmers planning fall seeding within 90 days.

Eisenhower vetoes farm bill seeks soil bank amid debate

President Eisenhower vetoed the farm bill and urged Congress to pass a soil bill promptly. House Democrats failed to override. the soil bank plan is labeled a dead issue. He outlined key price support goals for 1956 and a sizable annual farm-aid program, with costs nearing one billion dollars per year. Congress stands firm, option to override remains uncertain.
