Peach potato and milk producers schedule public hearings at the State Agriculture Building to consider self assessment programs to promote sale and use of the products. Peach hearings May 21 potato May 27 and milk July 15 cover proposed assessments of three cents per hundredweight on fresh peaches and one cent on processed peaches. one cent per hundredweight on potatoes for human consumption. and a levy of one half of one percent of gross milk checks. Votes will accept or reject these assessments.

Lee Ressler aged 16, son of Mr and Mrs Harold L Ressler of East Earl R1, won the Conservation Public Speaking Contest sponsored by Lancaster Soil and Water Conservation District. The event at the Farm and Home Center featured nine youths. Ressler spoke on "America Destroyed" and attends Garden Spot High School. Second place went to Roger Campbell, 15.
