Hazardous Occupations Rules for Farm Youths and Student Learners

The Hazardous Occupations Order prohibits sixteen tasks for under sixteen year olds with an exception for parent or guardian employment on family farms. Student learners may be exempt if enrolled in a recognized program, under a written agreement, supervised, with safety instructions and progressive on the job plan, and with records kept by school and employer. The sixteen listed hazardous tasks include handling certain chemicals, blasting agents, aircraft flagging, on road driving, and operating tractors over twenty horsepower, among others.
