Lester Stehman Stedman of Manheim RD2, named Outstanding Cooperator by the Lancaster Soil and Water Conservation District, defines conservation as planned resource management and adds stewardship as essential. He farms 76 acres between Mount Joy and Manheim, dating his work 29 years, and over five years has expanded contour farming to 60 acres, built 12,461 feet of terraces, 10,025 feet of fire drain, 2.2 acres of sod waterways, and a grade stabilization structure.
