660 Lancaster Farms Sign Up In Soil Conservation
A total of 660 Lancaster County farmers have enrolled in the 1956 agricultural conservation program, more than last year. Chicago Steers Reach High Prices on Mixed Midweek Trade
Midweek Chicago fed steers sold uneven with high choice and prime values up to 2700 dollars on two large loads. Other loads traded around 2650 dollars, with most prime steers 24.00 to 25.50 per hundredweight and bulk steer classes around 1950 to 2150 dollars. Ground remains soggy delaying spring field work and the Allis Chalmers Field Day to April 10 at David Witmer Farm. Temperatures remain mild into April with normal to near normal rainfall forecast. Tornadoes occur in the Plains as March ends and final county totals compare to historic snow years.
