Fred Steinmetz of Lancaster testified at a Columbus safety hearing that he was arrested for speeding on Broad Street in 1916 by Hammel and urged to come to Hammel’s home the next Sunday. He said Hammel asked, “You know the game,” and that a letter threatening him was sent if he did not appear. Steinmetz’s wife Pauline corroborated. Donated funds were mentioned as a donation to a fund to buy a high powered motor car.

Farmer Held Charged With the Murder of His Young Wife
Toledo reports a Toledo actress linked to a domestic dispute that led to the shooting death of Mrs. Frederick Lehman in a Swanton area home.
