Washington Sept 15 The fuel administration will stop large scale coal exports to Canada via Great Lakes ports to ensure northwest needs are met. Dr H A Garfield requested the exports board deny licenses without approval and seek equal distribution to Northwest and Canada. Earlier moves favoring lakes shipments risked Canada, but ongoing review shows Canada imported 530,972 of 1,755,812 tons sent to lake ports Aug 24–Sept 8. If unchecked, Northwest shortages threaten winter industry and rail and coastwise supply constraints bite New England.
